About MSI Reproductive Choices Afghanistan (MSIA):

MSI Reproductive Choices Afghanistan (MSIA) is a branch of MSI, a global, non-profit, and non-governmental organization headquartered in London, UK, and was established in August 2002 after registration with the Government of Afghanistan. MSIA follows the local mission statement of MSI: Improve Afghan women’s health and well-being so that they can, in turn, build strong, healthy families. Our vision is to be the organization that Afghan women seek out for high-quality, client-centered health care provided by women, for women.

We focus on reducing maternal mortality by providing quality and sustainable maternal-child health (MCH) and reproductive health (RH) services and information in 17 provinces of Afghanistan, namely Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Jawzjan Faryab, Nangarhar, Helmand, Kandahar, Baghlan, Kunduz, Badakhshan, Takhar, Samangan, Kapisa, Khost, Paktia, and Daikundi, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) of Afghanistan. 

MSIA strives to enhance women's health outcomes in the aforementioned provinces by delivering vital reproductive and maternal-child health services through multiple channels such as centers, outreaches, the private sector, and MS Ladies (Family Health Houses).

Job Description:

Conducting morning meetings with all staff

Lead monthly staff meetings as per the agenda, draft minutes and follow the action plan for implementation

Assist in the management of all resources, which are in use of health facility (human resources, equipment, medicine, fee, etc)

Perform Ultrasound examination of the clients

Maintain Ultrasound  machine against sunlight, electric shocks, and other harm

Provision of correct examination of the clients (patients) and provide the necessary advice

Prescribe medicine  according to right diagnosis and necessity of the client

Explaining the treatment plan to the patient and allowing sufficient time for clients to ask questions

Write up necessary and required information on client cards and ensure important information  is not missing

Conduct monthly clinical record audits and report to Health Support and Research Team in Support Office

Ensure all staff adhere to infection prevention policies across the health facility

Adhere to all infection prevention policies throughout service provision

Participate in all kinds of training nominated by the Health Support and Research Team

Conduct training if the provider is trained as a clinical trainer

Provide on the job training and supportive supervision  for level 2 providers

Keep record of training received and training provided in their training logbook

Conduct competency assessment of other providers

Maintain a good relationship with the community

Ensure the MEM kit is complete,  MEM drugs are up to date and MEM equipment is functioning well and fully ready for emergency

Ensure pharmacy follows FEFO policy and stock cards are kept as per MSI policy

Be well prepared to manage an emergency event, have the stepwise knowledge to refer clients to a third facility

Obtain and complete client consent form before performing the procedure as per each service guideline

Ensure all incident reporting format is available in hard and soft copy and provider understand risk rating for clinical and product-related incident 

Maintain proper referral system when required

Provision of MSI FP services  as per the guideline and job aids

Provision of Client centered counseling as per the REDI framework/ usage of WHO wheel chart and MSI flip chart during counseling

Follow up on internal audit/ incident/ client feedback/staff meeting/ supervision and another related action plan for implementation and completion

Be encouraged to increase model areas in quality clinical governance and services

Ensure all key clinical staff are immunized against HBS and HBS register is maintained and tracked up to date

Make sure the gender of the babies is not revealed  in the ultrasound result

Perform any other required project-related tasks.

 

Other side responsibilities:

Managing all emergency medical situations according to MSI-A and MoPH standards

Monitor and administer the arrival and departure of MSI-A Staff and clients in the clinic

Monitor the payment of fees and keep an accurate record of client information and income with a daily summary along with click operator

Assist in the efficient flow of clients through the clinic

Provide information and consultation on Family Planning for any patient comes to the health center

Treat all clients with respect, provide privacy, and maintain confidentiality

Assisting clients to make a decision by helping to think through the choices.

Understanding and respecting clients' rights

Being brief, doing first things first, using simple words, and repeating the most important information during counseling

Encouraging clients to ask questions, and share concerns

Ensure that the whole clinic team is kept fully informed of relevant developments

Represent the clinic team (and where appropriate, the Country Director and the undersigned at internal and external meetings and tactical planning

Ensuring aseptic measures infection prevention  within the clinic

Arranging meetings with CBD and mobile clinics

Ensure MSI-A and MoPH standards rules are followed

Avoid tribal, gender, religious, and Nationality discrimination.

Qualifications:

GYNE and Ultrasound specialist

The applicant must have passed the exit exam.

Demonstrated understanding of Afghanistan's health system context and medical market (or similar).

High level of written and oral communication skills in Dari and English, with a confident and professional manner.

Proven ability to effectively work across teams and with support teams outside Afghanistan

Experience:

3-5 years, preferably with Health Providing National or International NGOs

Practical work experience in Ultrasound

Skills:
